Licensing
EBARC holds regular VE testing sessions in conjunction with the Oakland Radio Communications Association (ORCA) and the Amateur Radio Club of Alameda (ARCA) for anyone who wants to take an initial exam or upgrade their license at:

All VE Sessions are held on Sundays at 9am local time on the following dates:
January 27th
April 27th
July 27th
October 26th
Cost is $14 cash or check (to ARRL-VEC) to take any or all of the three possible exams. An additional $14 is required to re-take a failed test (time permitting).
Bring a government issued photo ID, and either your Social Security Number or FCC Registration Number (FRN). For upgrades, bring your original license and a photocopy of it or a valid CSCE from a prior exam and a photocopy of it. Also bring a pen and pencil and calculator (optional).

Ham license classes are taught by EBARC, ORCA, and ARCA members. In the Spring of 2008 there will be a 5-week Technician class, followed by a VE session, and a 3-week class on “How to Program Your HT” all taking place in Richmond. In the Fall there will be another Technician class and a General license class taught in Alameda. The exact dates for 2008 are yet to be determined.
